RESIDENTIAL COURSES

THE COURSE

  • Practical walling experience for beginners and experienced alike
  • Advanced courses in September with the possibility of accreditation exam
  • Held both on the site of the '92, '94 and '96 National Championships and up on limestone scars
  • Featured in the national press as expert providers of country skills

So come and learn how to batter, place your heartings, run your throughs and cope with your copes. You will have the satisfaction of seeing a repaired stint by the end of your course.

The courses are held in the Craven area of the Yorkshire Dales. Groups are kept small [max. 12] and you will be instructed by a certified Master Craftsman, professional waller and ex-farmer, Stephen Harrison.

All the walls you repair are part of working farms and are a vital part of countryside management.

The courses begin on Fridays [please make sure you arrive between 5.30pm and 6.15pm] with dinner and an introdution to your tutor and the weekend's activities. Saturday and Sunday are spent walling with the weekend finishing at about 4.00pm.

On all courses there are opportunities for presentations relevant to the craft for a short time in the evenings.
