Many parts of the Yorkshire Dales National Park are still open to visitors although hundreds of miles of footpath and bridleway have been closed to walkers. Visitors have stayed away in huge numbers and the park authority has become worried about the disastrous effects on non-farming local businesses.
Whilst thanking the general public for its vigilance in abiding by F&M restrictions, it wants visitors to return to non-affected areas. So the park has set up information lines to advise visitors on the Do's and Don't of a trip to the Dales.
Members of the public wanting visitor information can call (01969) 667450 (11.00am - 4.00pm, seven days a week) or (01756) 752774 (Mondays 11.00am - 1.00pm, Wednesdays and Fridays 11.00am - 4.00pm and weekends 10.00am - 4.00pm).
