A striking collection of Anglian cross-shafts, housed in this fine old church, testifies to a Christian community in Otley form the
8th century. Later history is evidenced by the fascinating effigies, tombs, brasses and
tablets to Fairfaxes of Denton, Fawkes of Farnley and others. North of the churchyard, another unique monument records 23
workmen killed while constructing the Bramhope Tunnel, 1845-9.
