The impressive buttressed tower of 1501, bearing the Tempest arms, overlooks this pleasant compact village and
the handsome almshouses. Much of the church was rebuilt by Paley, 1899-1901, but a 15th
century octagonal font remains, decorated with symbols of the Passion. A recently restored stained glass panel, depicting Sir
Richard Tempest, contains lovely medieval glass. Fine woodwork abounds and innumerable links with local history and families.
