Prominent at the head of the famous High Street stands this glorious and welcoming church,
a 12th century foundation, but mainly of
14th/15th
century architecture. Resplendent with banners and coats of arms, with the magnificent
Clifford tombs, the uniquely beautiful Tudor roof and screen, the medieval fresco and
very much more, stretching back to its early monastic links with Bolton Priory but
lively and realistic today.
