This exceptionally handsome Victoria church, built in 1839 on the site of an ancient boundary cross, is a striking landmark as
one approaches Skipton. The interior is lofty, light and tranquil and the furnishings include superb woodcarving by Brommett
of Tadcaster and the 'Mouseman', some very agreeable stained glass, painted ceilings, marble flooring and a fine organ.
Against the east and is buried the 'Commander-in-Chief' – 'smallest most perfect man in the world' (d. 1859).
