High up in a rocky, steep-sided valley below Whernside lies this secluded little 17th
century chapel, less than 50 feet long, with bellcot and mullioned windows, a magnificent roof and fine 17
th century glass. An unforgettably moving, prayer-filled place, it
has special associations with the victims of the Settle-Carlisle Railway construction in the 1870s.
