Action Group member Liz Styan pedals her way to a cup of tea
LOCAL people will be challenged to help tackle climate change at a special roadshow in one Yorkshire Dales town next month.
Residents in Northallerton will be asked to work out their own carbon footprint - and then see how they can reduce it at the event being organised by the town's Climate Change Action Group.
There will be free energy saving light bulbs to collect; displays on growing vegetables and buying locally and activities for children at the roadshow.
Visitors can enter a free draw to win a wind up solar powered radio and try out fair trade refreshments.
A free cup of tea or coffee will be offered to anyone who can pedal a specially adapted bike hard enough to boil the water!
The roadshow takes place on June 2nd at Northallerton Town Hall from 2-4.20pm.
The Climate Change Action Group is made up of individuals from local churches, North Yorkshire County Council, Climate Concern and Hambleton District Council.
Its development came as part of a wider remit of the 'Making Poverty History' campaign and has been a positive project in supporting the need for awareness raising on climate change.
