Skipton Library and Customer Services Centre celebrates its centenary in February and a month of celebrations begins on Tuesday February 2 with a Local Studies and Family History Fair. The fair will give people the chance to explore their local and family history in and around Craven, with displays and information from family and local history societies in the area. It will run from 10.00am - 3.30pm at the library.
As well as the fair there will be events and talks throughout the day. These are all free but places are limited so you must book a ticket at the library if you wish to attend.
The centenary celebrations also include a competition to win £100 of High Street vouchers, simply by borrowing a book. Library members will be offered the opportunity to pick up a special 'Centenary' card. On Wednesday February 17 there will be a 100th Birthday Party all day to which everyone is invited.
County Councillor Chris Metcalfe, Executive Member for North Yorkshire County Council's Adult and Community Services said: "It is wonderful to be celebrating the centenary of the Skipton Library and Customer Services Centre, the library has been at the heart of the community since it opened on 16 February 1910 and has been loved and enjoyed by many local families."
