"Waterfall", Daren Smith
A new artist will be showcasing his work in the Dales Countryside Museum in Hawes from this weekend.
Daren Smith has captured the atmosphere of the seasons in a series of black and white photographs entitled ‘Yorkshire, A Land Painted Silver’.
They will be on display in the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority-owned Museum from Saturday (Aug 2) to August 30.
“I am an amateur photographer, so this is done in my spare time and dinner hours,” said Daren, who lives in Cherry Burton, near Beverley.
“It’s a collection of traditional, hand-printed monochrome work taken in all seasons of Yorkshire.”
I’m really pleased that we can add yet another attraction for visitors the Museum as well as helping him to publicise his work

He studied City and Guilds photography for eight years, gaining six distinctions, and has held various joint exhibitions. More recently he had his own exhibition with the National Trust.
“I am a proud amateur who is lucky enough to fund my hobby and passion with the odd print sale,” he said.
Museum manager Fiona Rosher said: “Daren has captured the essence of the Yorkshire Dales in his beautiful photographs.
“I’m really pleased that we can add yet another attraction for visitors the Museum as well as helping him to publicise his work.”
