A NEW housing project in Kirkby Stephen has received recognition for the outstanding workmanship of its builders.
The small estate of bungalows on Croglam Lane came up trumps at the 2006 'Eden Build Quality Awards'.

The scheme is held in recognition of the quality of workmanship of local builders and is now an annual award. It is hoped that in following years it will run in conjunction with, and be part of, a national initiative to reward builders for excellent construction techniques linked with customer satisfaction.
The Awards Scheme draws all forms of building construction together; enabling small, medium and large companies to compete fairly.
By publicly recognising the good work that is delivered by many local building firms the scheme is intended to help raise standards more generally.
The Croglam Lane development is built with modern materials and was commended for its high standard of workmanship and specifications which exceed planning requirements.
Judges also commented on the simplicity of the scheme, which they described as complimenting the surrounding properties without overwhelming them.
"The schemes that have formed part of this year's awards reflect the high calibre of build working in Eden," said Richard Tuner, Chairman of Eden's Planning Applications Committee.
"Many of the schemes successfully marry new building techniques and environmentally efficient technology into existing structures that complement the local surroundings."
