Don’t miss this if you like good music!

[Monday 24 October 2008]

You are invited to join the Mayor and Mayoress of Pendle for ‘A Bit Of A Do.’ Residents in Pendle are urged to reserve their places for the annual festive treat now, as tickets will go fast!

The Worshipful the Mayor of Pendle Councillor Shelagh Derwent and Mayoress Mrs Ann McGeorge will be hosting the entertainment show for pensioners and disabled residents from 1st – 3rd December 2008.

‘A Bit Of A Do’ will take place at Colne Municipal Hall from 11.45am until 3.30pm each day.

Guests will enjoy a pre-lunch drink, followed by a traditional roast turkey dinner or a suitable alternative for those with special dietary needs.

The compere and ‘warm up’ artist is well known male entertainer Pete Diamond.

Pete, who works for Pendle Council by day, performs in clubs throughout the North West. He’s sure to have everyone singing, clapping and maybe dancing in the aisles.

Pete will be introducing Andy Ash, a superb guitarist and vocalist who has a subtle blend of natural talent and a sense of humour.

Top of the bill, straight from her season in Blackpool, will be the very delightful and talented Andrea Louise. She’s an excellent vocalist who sings anything ranging from Celine Dion to Peggy Lee.

The show is not to be missed and will have you coming back for more next year!

A Grand Christmas Raffle will be held each day with all proceeds going to the Mayor’s chosen charities.

These are The Samaritans of Pendle, North West Air Ambulance and Sport, Fitness, Musical Drama for Pendle Youth Organisations.

Community Transport is available to take people to and from the event on selected days.

Spaces are limited so people are asked to book their seats as soon as possible.

Councillor Shelagh Derwent said : “I’m really looking forward to hosting the shows this year. They promise to be afternoons of good food, good company and good entertainment.

“I do hope as many people as possible can join us for lots to eat and drink, music and singing - all the ingredients we need to get us in the mood for Christmas!”

Tickets, costing £7.50, go on sale from 9am on Tuesday 4th November.

To reserve your tickets, contact Shelagh Czapowski or Sofia Kauser on (01282) 661561 between 9am and 12 noon, and 1pm and 4pm. (Unfortunately bookings cannot be taken outside these hours).
