Friends of the Friarage
TWO charities based in Hambleton have benefited this week as the former chairman of the District Council, Peter Brown, presented them with cheques.
Almost £2,300 went to the Friends of the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton and another £1,000 went to the RAF Benevolent Fund.
The Friends of the Friarage are tireless fundraisers on behalf of the hospital, raising money for equipment. The RAF has a long history in Hambleton with its base at Leeming and the Benevolent Fund works to provide the extended Royal Air Force Family with support as a consequence of poverty, sickness, disability, accident, infirmity or other adversity.
The cash was raised during his year of office - which he completed earlier this month - through his civic dinner and a charity concert.
Several donations were also made including £300 from the Aroma Restaurant in Northallerton which staged a special Sunday opening to raise funds.
The three pictures (from top) show Councillor Brown with Brian Thompson, Chairman of the Friends of the Friarage Hospital; Wing Commander Ian Vallely of RAF Leeming; and staff of the Aroma Restaurant in Northallerton.
