IT'S THAT time of year when many of us will be spending more time in our beloved gardens, and residents of one East Lancashire town are being urged to grab the gardening gloves, spruce up their plot and maybe win some cash in the process.
Colne in Bloom is here again and the green fingers competition is aiming to make the old mill town awash with colour and stand out from the rest.

Anyone can enter the competition which has five categories: Best Garden; Best Backyard; Best Basket or Container; Best Pub, Restaurant or Business; Best use of Community Space.
Entries will be judged on the best use of available space, design and planting.
Dorothy Lord, Chair of the Colne in Bloom working group, said: "I'm really looking forward to seeing all the wonderful work that people have achieved and I know it is going to be a really tough decision to pick the winners.
"I hope that everyone can pull together to make Colne an even bonnier place to live and work."
Last year's overall winner, Bernadette Storey, added: "I am thrilled to death to have won, I am a very keen gardener and like to keep my garden looking neat and tidy; I will be spending my prize money on more plants.
"It is lovely that my efforts and everyone else's have been recognised."
To enter Colne in Bloom and be in with a chance of scooping the £100 prize, residents and businesses simply have to send their name, address, telephone number and the category they are entering to: Derek Gascoigne, Environmental Action Group, Bank House, 61 Albert Road, Colne, BB8 0BP.
