A COUNTRY lane near Bedale will be closed for the next few days while Yorkshire Water completes a project that the company started last summer.
The unclassified lane runs near Langthorne, north of Bedale; contractors finished upgrading the sewer and outfall beneath the road between East View and Michary Lea last year, improving the quality of local watercourses.

However, repairs to the road surface were scheduled for this spring and contractors will return this week to complete the work.
"The road closure is essential for safety reasons but we realise the work is likely to cause some disruption for people with homes in the area so we would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience," said area customer communications advisor, Nicola Senior.
"However, we hope people will agree the long-term environmental benefits are worth it."
Half will be spent on planting new trees and flowers in Langthorne while the remainder will help cover the cost of a new parish notice board in Crakehall.
