A NEWLY opened food shop in Harrogate has been named as the best "rural retailer" in Britain because it specialises in selling produce from Yorkshire farmers.
Weeton's opened only six months ago but was judged best of hundreds of entrants from throughout the country in a competition organised jointly by the Countryside Alliance and Farmers' Weekly.
It buys more than half its stock from 35 farms within 40 miles of Harrogate and that figure will rise to more than 75 per cent in summer when local fruit and vegetables become available.
