The Calendar Girls are joining forces with Penny Plain Theatre Company for a Victorian Extravaganza to raise funds for Leukaemia Research on Sunday September 13th.
Grassington Square is the venue for the benefit day which is an impromptu addition to the theatre company’s summer tour in support of their friends and relatives the Calendar Girls and their nominated charity.
Visitors to the event will be able to have their pictures taken with the Calendar Girls dressed in nineteenth century attire by the man who has shot all the images for the world famous WI calendars, Terry Logan, in the guise of a Victorian photographer.
Music Hall entertainment will be provided by professional duo ‘Malc and Jennie’ of Settle and Penny Plain will be performing with its distinctive outdoor stage modelled on nineteenth century theatre booths. This year’s touring production sees Hardcastle's Mighty Excelsior Theatre - the familiar guise of Penny Plain - performing a tribute to their “dear departed cart-horse”, Hamlet.
Stalls and other vintage entertainment will be available from 12 – 4pm.
Anyone wishing to take part in the event with some form of Victorian entertainment should contact Barbara Leigh-Mason on 01756 753696.
