Delighted centre manager Geraldine Coates said: "It's great news that we have been nominated - it's very satisfying to know we have managed to meet the high standards required in the awards."
The National Park Authority-owned centre, which also includes the Coppice coffee shop and acts as a Tourist Information Centre, was visited by 140,000 people last year.
The winners of each of the 17 categories will be announced on 11 September at a glittering gala dinner and awards ceremony at the Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham.
The regional winner in the Tourist Information Centre of the Year category will go forward to the national Enjoy English Excellence Awards held annually by VisitBritain.
