Hill farmers and land managers who can secure substantial extra grants under new upland management schemes are being invited to a series of local meetings this autumn to meet officials from Natural England to discuss the benefits involved.
By signing up to the new Uplands Entry Stewardship Scheme (Uplands ELS), which comes into force early next year, farmers can earn between £15 and £32 more per hectare in return for a range of environmental schemes, including the preservation of old buildings.
