Builders waste left at Warlaby
Hambleton’s purge against fly tipping continues – with three men fined in court for illegally dumping rubbish.
The men – including a local builder – were jointly fined £850 by Northallerton magistrates.
The court had heard that a 19 year old Bedale man had dumped six bags of household waste at Danby Wiske, a 36 year old Hawnby man had left five bags of household rubbish on Osmotherley Moor and a 39 year old builder from Northallerton had left building waste in a gateway in Warlaby.
“Many of these items – especially the building waste - would not have rotted away as they were left in plastic bags,” said Street Scene Manager, John Proud.
“We are determined to take action against people who fly tip – there is no need for it. There are plenty of recycling sites and household waste sites to leave rubbish. And every time something is fly tipped it costs the council taxpayers money – these three incidents cost us over £1,000 to clear up, money not recouped from the offenders.”
