Lamby and Beefy to hit Craven for six
RESIDENTS of Craven should beware this Friday as the Great North Mascot Steeplechase Tour comes to the Yorkshire Dales.
Mascots including Lamby, Beefy, Potato Pete and two giant Sausages will be dropping by to warm up for this month's mascot spectacular at Wetherby Race Course along with two competitors from Skipton and one from Ingleton.
The main stop on the tour will be Pearson's of Ingleton which is the stable of Mascot Steeplechase entry 'Chip the Sausage.'
The group will also be joined by Skipton Building Society's Marvin the Monkey who is being run in by employee Laura Wood when they hit Skipton main street later in the afternoon.
All the group of mascots and many more including representatives from Leeds Rhinos, Bradford Bulls and Leeds United will be sprinting the final furlong at Wetherby races on Sunday 29th April in aid of Sue Ryder Care Manorlands - Hospice in Oxenhope.
The race has been co-organised by the healthcare charity and the Yorkshire Federation of Young Farmers Clubs who last year raised over £13,000 with their inaugural mascot Steeplechase.
Members of Yorkshire YFC also choose a theme for the race each year and this year is local produce which explains why there are so many food related mascots in the race.
