A major new competition has been launched to find the most popular spots in James Herriot’s Yorkshire.
As part of the 10th birthday celebrations for The World of James Herriot a photographic exhibition highlighting favourite places in the county will be staged this spring. And centre bosses want local people to enter pictures of their own 'special' places into the display.
"Perhaps those favourite places featured in the James Herriot books or were part of the TV series,” said Centre Manager, Alison Scurrah. "Alf Wight loved this county – he had his own favourite spots and we will ensure they are featured in the exhibition. But we want to find out where everyone else loves – maybe we will find some hidden treasures. But I am sure we will confirm that Alf was right that Yorkshire is a wonderful place to be."
The exhibition – which will be one of four specially staged for the birthday year – opens on April 4.
Competition photographs must be of the landscape and not include people. They should be submitted by March 18 to Alison Scurrah at The World of James Herriot, 23 Kirkgate, Thirsk, YO7 1PL or email james.herriot@hambleton.gov.uk
An application form must be completed and terms and conditions agreed before entering. For more information check out www.worldofjamesherriot.org or call 01845 524234.
