Farmers and land managers considering diversifying into deer farming are being invited to a special open day at Hornby Castle near Bedale later this month.
Organised by the British Deer Farmers Association (BDFA), the event on Wednesday, August 29 includes a tour of the deer farm and facilities at Hornby Castle and a short handling demonstration. There will also be practical advice from experts on key subjects such as fencing requirements and venison marketing techniques.
Kath Shaw of the BDFA said: "The open day is designed to appeal to anyone who wants to diversify into deer farming as well as those already involved. There will be plenty of information available on deer farming and a chance to meet other deer farmers."
- The open day runs from 10am to 4pm and costs £20 per person including lunch. For further information or to book a place, call the BDFA office on 01629 827037 or email: jacqui.wheatcroft@bdfa.co.uk
