Julian Norton
Thirsk gym regular, Julian Norton, will this month attempt to break the British record for a 100,000 metre indoor row.
Julian, a 37 year old FASTCARD Freedom Member at Thirsk Swimming Pool, is hoping to thrash the record as it stands now - 7 hours 38 mins and 35 seconds for men aged 30 - 39 and under 75kg. The world record is 6.46.26.
And as inspiration he is raising money for South Kilvington School sports tuition at the same time.
“I've been doing 100-150k per week completing 50k in 3 hours 30 minutes so I'm on track - quite what will happen after that time I don't know,” he said.
“I hope to raise some money for the school at the same time as I beat this record so there is a really good reason to do well.”
His record attempt will take place in Thirsk Swimming Pool’s new Zest Health and Fitness Gym at the end of this month.
