THE spotlight is set to shine on a magnificent feature of the Yorkshire Dales landscape next week as a series of events focus on its footprints through time.
Dales charity, Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, Natural England, Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority and Pioneer Projects are hosting their second annual event, 'Spotlight on Ingleborough'.
The theme for 2007 is 'Footprints on the Hill' and the festival of events is an opportunity for the public to explore the great outdoors and learn about the wonderful surroundings of Ingleborough - and it's all free of charge.
Dave Tayler, Education Manager at YDMT and Manager of the Learning in Limestone Country Project is one of the organisers of the event. He explains: "These events have been created to enable everyone to enjoy the National Nature Reserve on Ingleborough. There will be walks and talks throughout the week covering such topics as butterflies, bats, birds, and geology."
Paul Evans, who manages Natural England's Ingleborough National Nature reserve, added: "This is a great opportunity for people to explore their natural environment and above all to enjoy themselves out in the countryside. We hope families come along and have fun with nature".
There is something for everyone with walks on Ingleborough National Nature Reserve, GPS Training with the Fell Rescue Team, and Live Jazz with 'Dales Jam', a Biofuel demonstration by Yorwoods, Samba Drumming and Archery.
The week is set to end with a Family Fun Day at the Hill Inn, Chapel-le-Dale on Sunday 1st July, from 10 am until 5 pm.
Free transport from Ribblehead Station and Ingleborough Community Centre in Ingleton is being provided throughout the day as there is limited parking available at the site.
