Sedbergh hosts twin-town delegation

[Tuesday 21 March 2006]

The town that wanted a twin has a delegation of very special visitors arriving this week.

Sedbergh featured on BBC Television last year in a series that followed a number of residents who took part in the town's search for a European twin town.

At the end of a fascinating series Zrechay in Slovenia was picked and preparations have been underway in Sedbergh for a visit from the town this week.

An official delegation including the Mayor of Zrechay and several other dignitaries will visit Sedbergh for what is described as a "real hands on fact finding mission" by Stuart Manger, Sedbergh's twinning secretary.

The delegation is set to have a look at Sedbergh from the point of view of business and tourism, as well as examining how the two towns can benefit each other more fully by twinning.
