All the fun of the fair for Northallerton

[Thursday 20 April 2006]

ALL THE fun of the Fair comes to Northallerton once more this month.

Officers from Hambleton District Council are putting the finishing touches to plans for the town's annual May Fair.

For five days the High Street will be filled with rides and side shows, bringing thousands of people into the district.

Parking, together with bus and taxi collection points, are changed for the duration of the event - which runs from Thursday April 27 to Monday May 1.

Parts of the High Street between Zetland Street and All Saints Church will be closed during the fair's opening hours and as the fair is set up and dismantled. Diversion routes will be posted throughout the town for drivers.

Alternative arrangements are as follows:

  • Long and short stay car parking in the Applegarth car park will be reduced between Sunday April 23 and Tuesday May 2. Alternative long stay parking will be available at the Hambleton Forum, Crosby Road and Civic Centre car parks.
  • Bus stops will be moved to Zetland Street for northbound services; and outside the library for southbound services.
  • The Town Hall taxi rank will move to Zetland Street.
  • There will be additional disabled parking bays outside the Post Office and the former Iceland store.

Chairman of the Council, Peter Brown will officially open the fair on April 27.
