Public to hear from water company

[Monday 20 March 2006]

Members of the public will have a chance to hear from representatives of Yorkshire Water at an event being held in Ilkley tomorrow (Tuesday).

The Consumer Council for Water Yorkshire is holding one of its regular public meetings in the town and residents will be hearing from representatives of the Environment Agency and Yorkshire Water.

Representatives from Yorkshire Water will discuss issues including the company's charges for 2006-2007 and its commitment to the Yorkshire region through its corporate social responsibility programme.

Members will also receive a report outlining the company's recent achievements, the level of water resources within the region and complaint statistics.

A summary of the company's main activities, including essential repair work and capital schemes, will also be provided.

The meeting, which is open for anyone to attend, begins at 1.30pm at the Craiglands Hotel on Cowpasture Road.

If you would like to attend the meeting, e-mail the Consumer Council for Water Yorkshire at yorkshire@ccwater.org.uk or contact the watchdog on 01325 469777.
