As heavy rain storms lashed northern England – and are expected to last at least for today and perhaps longer – the Environment Agency issued flood warnings on several rivers in the northern Yorkshire Dales.
Rivers affected include the Ure, Swale, Nidd, Lune and Kent, which have posted as having “flood warnings”, the second highest danger category after “severe flood warnings.” Several other rivers in the region are on “flood watch” – the lowest category of threat.
