Ann Duffield and committee of Ribble Valley & White Rose Ladies
ANN Duffield, one of the country's most successful women in the racing world has helped Ribble Valley & White Rose Ladies to raised £2150 for research into children's cancer.
The North Yorkshire racing trainer runs her racing yard, Ann Duffield Racing, at Constable Burton and entertained the audience with tales of the racing life and her marriage to the country's seventh most successful jockey, the much loved 'Gentleman George' Duffield.
Ann amused her fascinated listeners as she likened running a racing stable to running a public school, where the horses are like the children, some wonderful, some difficult, requiring full time care and attention, with the owners being rather like parents, anxious to hear only news of good progress of their progeny.
The funds raised by the event will help to provide money for vital work conducted by Cancer Research UK into the causes and treatment of childrens cancer, for which the Ribble Valley & White Rose Ladies have contributed over £500, 000 since they formed in 1999.
