Expert help on business red tape

[Monday 18 September 2006]

OWNERS of small businesses in North Yorkshire are being offered free on-line advice on yet another raft of Government red-tape which will come into effect in the next few months.

Business Link North Yorkshire has just published its latest on-line newsletter and this current issue concentrates on a jumble of new regulations which will make life even more complicated for people trying to run small businesses.

It will be of particular assistance to businesses in the more remote rural areas where seeking professional advice can mean taking a day off - and considerable expense.

Amongst the subjects covered are:

  • From 1 October this year, fire safety law will change. This is vital advice for people with any responsibility for premises such as offices, shops, factories, warehouses, pubs, clubs, restaurants, hotels, or care homes.

  • Confused by maternity rights? By answering a simple series of questions you can get a clear idea of your responsibilities as an employer to new or expectant mothers. This interactive tool will help you to ensure you act properly and within the law.
