Police Seek Help to Trace Vandals

[Friday 18 January 2008]

Police in the Ripon and Bedale area are appealing for information following a spate of vandalism attacks in local villages.

Overnight on 11-12 January, a number of vehicles in Aiskew, West Tanfield, Morton-on-Swale and Kirklington had their windows smashed, possibly with the use of a blunt instrument. Damage was also caused to bus shelters and phone boxes in the villages of North Stainley and West Tanfield.

PC Lee Featherstone of Bedale Safer Neighbourhood Team said: "This was an act of mindless stupidity causing upset, inconvenience and expense to members of the community and would ask anyone who may have any information relating to the attacks to get in touch.

"We would also like to speak to the occupants of a small dark-coloured car seen in the area on the evening of 11 January, who may have information which could help the investigation."

Anyone with any information, please contact PC Featherstone on 0845 60 60 24 7. Or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111
