Fashion flair at Ripon Races

IT’S that time again, when Yorkshire ladies don their dresses for a fashionable day out at Ripon Racecourse for the annual Ladies Day fixture, held this year on Thursday (19th June).

Ripon has earned its reputation as Yorkshire’s Garden Racecourse and is one of the most attractive courses in the country. On Ladies Day it is even more colourful, providing a welcome opportunity for everyone to indulge in a little luxury and show off their fashion flair.

Sophistication and style abounds, with judges looking out for the Best Dressed Lady and the wearer of the Best Hat to win the luxury prizes from this year’s fashion marquee event sponsor, James Brindley of Harrogate.

Their fashion marquee will be the venue for a luxury champagne luncheon, with fashion shows throughout the afternoon featuring various collections from up and coming young fashion designers from Harrogate College.

The course opens at 12 noon, giving two hours before the first race at 2.10pm to enjoy a relaxed lunch. A wide selection of bars, cafes and restaurants is available to choose from across the course, offering everything from take-away fish and chips to the elegance of the Champagne & Seafood Bar or fashion marquee.

After the thrill of the afternoon’s racing, a free live concert will feature the great sounds of Badness, the ultimate SKA and 2Tone revival band playing all your favourite Madness, Bad Manners and Specials tracks.
