LOCAL bands have been practicing hard and are making final preparations for an annual contest aimed at spotting the top talent across parts of the Yorkshire Dales.
At least seven groups from across the Hambleton district will enter the fight to take top slot in the 'Battle of the Bands' contest at the Hambleton Forum in Northallerton next Friday (September 22).

Dales bands set to battle it out
The contest is one of two events taking place as part of the District Council's annual arts festival, 'Zest Fest', which celebrates local talent.
The Decades; Howard Orange; Epic; the Patio doors; Samsura; Three Stubbies and Something About An Enigma all want to claim top spot.
A day of dance will also be held in Northallerton - with demonstrations of a wide variety of styles in the marketplace and taster sessions in the Hambleton Forum. The dancers will be performing from 11am until 4pm.
Bands can still enter the contest and tickets to watch the 'battle' are available from Hambleton Leisure Centre on 01609 777070 or Thirsk TIC on 01845 522755 priced £5.50 (concessions £4.50) or £18 for a family of four.
To get involved in either event contact Arts Development Officer, Kate Staines on 01609 767203.
