Richmond Friary Gardens competition winner
A GREEN-FINGERED youngster has seen her floral design become a reality in Richmond’s Friary Gardens.
Molly Burrows-Egan, from Brompton-on-Swale CE Primary, won a Council-run competition to design a new flower bed for the park.
Officers from Richmondshire District Council invited Molly, her mum Zoe and some of her friends to see her design for the first time.
The new display was unveiled shortly after the announcement that Friary Gardens had won a prestigious Green Flag award for the second year running – and even secured rare Green Heritage Site Accreditation as well, one of only 42 sites in the country to do so.
Gary Hudson, Head of Open Spaces at the Council, said: “Molly’s brilliant design has brought a real splash of colour to Friary Gardens. I’m sure she’s got a promising future in horticulture ahead of her!”
