Delegates from across the world are expected to converge on Thirsk later this year for the fourth Herriot Convention.
The three day event will see Herriot fans get inside treats into the world of the famous vet – including tickets to see the new theatre production of ‘All Creatures Great and Small’.
The three day convention – from October 1 – 3 - is hosted by The World of James Herriot.
Day one kicks off with a guided walk around Thirsk – the Darrowby of the books. Saturday brings a trip out into the ‘real’ Herriot country with Jim Wight and his sister, Rosie – which includes a stop at Ampleforth Orchard. And then there is a journey up the A1 to the Gala Theatre in Durham to see the adventures of the vet take to the stage in Simon Stallworthy’s new adaptation of the first Herriot book.
Day three is spent back in Thirsk with an exclusive visit to The World of James Herriot followed by Sunday lunch addressed by a guest speaker. Jim and Rosie will also be on hand to recount more family tales!
“This promises to be another great convention,” said Centre Manager, Alison Scurrah.
“Every Herriot fan has their own memories of Alf Wight / James Herriot so it is going to be interesting to listen to them all. And if past conventions are a guide they are always eager to hear more stories from Jim and Rosie.”
The convention weekend costs £170 (£160 if only for Saturday and Sunday) per person – accommodation is extra. For more details contact The World of James Herriot on 01845 524234 or www.worldofjamesherriot.org
