Free Swimming for over 60s will be offered at Richmond Pool from April 2009 as Richmondshire District Council approved support for the government initiative. Dave Pullinger, Richmondshire Leisure Trust’s Operations Manager, said; “It’s great that the Council has supported this initiative and it has offered renewed confidence in our management of sports facilities in Richmondshire.”
Roberta Barker Richmondshire Leisure Trust Board Director said; “This support from the District Council represents another tool we can use to promote healthy lifestyles, particularly among our older residents.”
Richmondshire District Council had agreed a new one year agreement for Richmondshire Leisure Trust to operate Richmond Pool & Richmond Sports Complex, at Richmond School. However, this agreement has recently been extended for two years, which should ensure the longer term sustainability of the Trust.
Once the new Catterick Garrison sports complex opens the Leisure Trust will look forward to working in partnership for a more co-ordinated approach to the delivery of sport and leisure services in the area. Richmondshire Leisure Trust are also in the process of working with other third sector providers of sport, leisure and cultural services to ensure a more joined up approach to service delivery.
