CAPITALISING on a wealth of talent and promoting Yorkshire as a film and television production centre of excellence is the aim of a new initiative being launched next month.

Along with the rest of Yorkshire, the Dales has undergone a media boom in recent years with feature films and popular TV series' such as the BBC's 'Bodies' filmed here.

From July, Regional Screen Agency, Screen Yorkshire is aiming to build on that achievement with a new service that will allow production companies worldwide to access information online about Yorkshire's production workforce and the facilities the region has to offer.

Screen Yorkshire is now calling for all production crew and for facilities companies across the region to register their details online to stand the best chance of getting work on the latest productions in Yorkshire when the service is launched.

It's been a good last three years for Screen Yorkshire which has helped to created 500 jobs and secured around 32,000 days of employment for production crew in the region. By making the information available around the clock, the agency is aiming to double that figure.

The new online service is the first of a series of initiatives that will be launching over the next year in order to attract further production to the region and to make sure that as many regional crew and facilities companies are employed as possible.

Sally Joynson, Acting Chief Executive at Screen Yorkshire said:
