A Community Safety themed art competition, which proved popular with young school pupils across the Richmondshire district of the Yorkshire Dales, has been extended for 2007.
Not only will anyone up to the age of 18 be able to take part this year, but the entry criteria has also been broadened to include sculpture design as well as painting, drawing and collage.
"We got such a good response, and a high standard of work from the nurseries and primary schools involved in our first competition, that we felt we should run it again", explains Chair of Richmondshire Community Safety Partnership, Liz Smith.
"We have decided to include a sculpture section for the 11 to 16 and 16 to 18 age ranges, and we hope to secure funding to commission the winning design."
This year's winning pictures will join artwork from last year's winners in Richmond Fire Station.
Entrants are being encouraged to create a piece of work with a strong community safety message. This will tie in with a Community Safety Partnership campaign to promote its work throughout the District.
The closing date for entries is 16 July. Full details are available from schools, and the partnership pages of richmondshire.gov.uk
