HOUSEHOLDS wanting to recycle old clothing now have the chance to use a new textile bank in Grassington – and help raise cash for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance at the same time.
Halifax-based Bag It Up Ltd has teamed up with the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority (YDNPA) to provide a recycling bank in the car park of the Authority’s National Park Centre in the village.
The company has already raised thousands of pounds for the Air Ambulance – which has been involved in a number of rescues within the National Park.
Alan Hulme, the YDNPA’s Ranger Services Manager, said: “The Authority is committed to recycling and promoting opportunities for local communities to help reduce their own carbon footprint.
“We already support charities like the Variety Club by working in partnership with Craven District Council and other organisations to provide facilities in the car park to help with recycling of glass, paper, books and even shoes.
“This is the latest addition and it not only gives people the chance to recycle unwanted clothing – which in turn helps the environment by reducing the volume of landfill – but it also contributes to the running costs of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, which provides an invaluable service to both the local communities and to visitors to the National Park.”
