Library users in North Yorkshire are being offered a new online service to download e-books and audio titles. The service is free to North Yorkshire Library members, and offers a choice of more than 1,000 e-book titles and more than 200 audio books which can be downloaded for personal computers, e-book readers, or MP3 players.
It is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There are no reservations fees ... and no fines, because the books automatically expire when the loan period finishes.
"More and more people are choosing to read books with e-book readers, and of course audio-books have been very popular for many years," said Councillor Chris Metcalfe, North Yorkshire County Council's Executive Member for Adult and Community Services.
"I am sure that this new 'virtual' library will prove to be a highly-valued addition to our existing services."
To access the service, simply visit www.northyorks.gov.uk/ebooks and follow the online instructions.
