Support for walkers

[Friday 11 June 2010]

Visitors to Richmondshire’s two Tourist Information Centres are being urged to put on their walking boots!

As part of the ‘Walkers Are Welcome’ status gained last year, the centres are supporting Richmond and Leyburn walk festivals.

Leyburn has organised its first walking festival - the ‘Turner Trail’ will be launched next weekend. Walks will take place in Wensleydale where the famous artist J M W Turner sketched – the sketches became some of his most famous watercolours.

The festival takes place from June 18 – 20 with tickets available from Leyburn TIC - for more information visit www.leyburnonline.co.uk

Richmond’s Walking and Book Festival takes place from September 24 to October 3.

Staff and volunteers at both TICs welcome walkers – they will discuss walking opportunities, provide free information as well as maps and other walk related publications.
