AGENCIES from across the Hambleton district of the Yorkshire Dales are joining forces next week for a major new initiative to tackle crime - and they want local people to join in their 'not in my neighbourhood' call.
The week long campaign - from October 15-21 - will see residents join forces to say no to local crime, robbery and burglary, anti-social behaviour and alcohol misuse
The 'Not in My Neighbourhood' week is the third strand of a yearlong project the Hambleton Community Safety Partnership has signed up for. It is one of 60 crime and drug agencies across the country to take part in the Home Office campaign 'Changing Lives: Making Communities Safer' which aims to communicate the work local agencies are doing to tackle crime, drugs, anti-social behaviour and alcohol misuse in their areas.
'Not in My Neighbourhood' week aims to demonstrate to local people the work being done in the area to tackle crime, anti-social behaviour, drug and alcohol misuse. A host of activities are planned from street safe surgeries to mass clean ups with the entire week supported by the district's newest radio station, Northallerton Minster.
The drop in 'Street Safe Surgeries' - which will provide advice on crime and disorder - will take place in each of Hambleton's market towns throughout the week.
Partnership officers will be on hand to talk to members of the public on anything from bogus callers to speeding problems, anti-social behaviour to alcohol and drug misuse. Members of the Neighbourhood Policing Teams will be manning the surgeries from 10am to 3 pm on:
Monday October 15 Thirsk - Tesco
Tuesday October 16 Bedale - Co-op
Wednesday October 17 Northallerton - Tesco
Thursday October 18 Stokesley - Mobile Police Station, outside Spar
Friday October19 Easingwold - Mobile Police Station, in the Market Place
Saturday October 20 Northallerton - Tesco - Thirsk - Tesco
