Walkers and countryside lovers are being invited to take part in a sponsored walk in Upper Wharfedale to raise money for much-need, small scale improvement schemes in the Yorkshire Dales.
The “Walk the Dales” challenge on Saturday, September 11, is being organised by the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, (YDMT) which receives much of its funding from various government and local government bodies, whose budgets are likely to be slashed in the coming months.
‘Walk for the Dales’ will start from Buckden in Wharfedale and participants can choose between two great walks – one of 7 ½ miles and one of 12 ½ miles for the more adventurous walker.
Says the trust: “The walk is not only an opportunity to soak up the stunning Dales scenery and enjoy a great day out,
“YDMT staff will also be on hand to point out some of the projects that walkers will be helping to support – like flowery meadows that have been restored as part of the Hay Time project, new broadleaf woodlands that have been planted, improvements to dry-stone walls and footpaths and much more.”
