The Yorkshire-born actor Sean Bean, famous for his toughguy roles like Sharpe on television and bad guys in Hollywood movies, has joined another battle – in attempts to double the woodland coverage of the UK.
Britain has fewer trees than any other major European country and the Woodland Trust charity has launched a campaign to double the area of forest and woods.
Spearheading the campaign – as he did for years as Sharpe, an officer during the Napoleonic Wars – Bean has made a video to encourage people to sign up to the project. In it, he asks: “Who’s planting for our children? And why?”
