SIZE is not important after all - especially when it comes to caves.
That's the reaction from Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority bosses to news that a newly-discovered cavern in Derbyshire has taken the title of Britain's biggest.
The find means that the famous Gaping Gill pot hole in North Craven slips in to number two position. The Titan cavern shaft is reportedly 459ft deep, beating Gaping Gill's 365ft.

And, while it is estimated the Dales cave could hold St Paul's Cathedral, experts say the Derbyshire cavern could accommodate the London Eye.
But all that has left YDNPA Head of Park Management Jon Avison singularly unimpressed.
"The Titan cave may be bigger but it won't be an attraction for members of the public like Gaping Gill is," he said.
"Every year hundreds of people are lowered into the cave by the Craven and Bradford pothole clubs so they can enjoy it in all its majesty.
"But the Titan cavern is apparently so dangerous that only experienced cavers can get to it.
"That means that visitors still have more to see in the Yorkshire Dales National Park - so size isn't everything after all."
- As well as Gaping Gill, which sits at the foot of Ingleborough, the Yorkshire Dales offers a huge variety of underground adventure. In fact, the greater Dales area alone contains something like 2,000 caves and potholes of which about 400kms of passages have been surveyed.
