A Ripon man will go on trial at Leeds Crown Court later this year, charged with murder.
Fifty-six year old John Hutchison appeared before the Court for a preliminary hearing yesterday (Wednesday) following a fatal shooting in the city.
Hutchison, of Cavendish Terrace in Ripon, is accused of the killing of forty-one year old Kirkby Malzeard man Sean Webster on the 3rd of March.
It is alleged that Hutchison shot Webster outside his home in the city.
Eye witnesses say two men were asked to leave a Hotel in Ripon Market Square after an argument developed at around 5.30 pm. Half an hour later police were called to Cavendish Terrace, where the body had been discovered.
Witnesses also say a man is alleged to have walked into a pub on the south side of town later that evening, bought a drink and then told customers he'd shot a man.
Armed police surrounded the Wheatsheaf pub and a man was arrested.
Hutchison is due to stand trial in August.
