A love affair to remember in the National Park

[Wednesday 09 February 2011]

Love is all around in the latest edition of the free annual visitor newspaper produced by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority (YDNPA).

Fans of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park have written about just what it is that makes the area a favourite place for them.

And their thoughts are included in The Visitor 2011, which is also full of useful information on things to do and places to see.

Editor Sarah Nicholson, the YDNPA’s Communication Officer, said: “We are looking forward to another fantastic year in the National Park and we hope The Visitor will be a great starting point for people wanting to get out and about in this very special place.

“It has lots of stories and features that we are sure will be of interest to everyone – whether you are a resident or you are planning a trip here.”

“And we are delighted that people who love the National Park wanted to share their experiences of it.”

The newspaper is packed with facts about the landscape and the features created by nature and the people who have lived here for thousands of years, as well as stories about how the YDNPA and its many partners work with residents to conserve and improve it.

Extraordinary trees of all shapes, sizes and ages are the subject of one story and another concentrates on some of the many bridges and river crossings that form part of the National Park’s history.

Then there are pages listing hundreds of events that will be held throughout the year – from guided walks and family mountain biking days to drystone walling demonstrations and bat watch evenings.

And look out for the YDNPA’s new Wild Wednesdays from April, which offer fun-filled family activities like stream dipping and boat crafting.

Copies of The Visitor 2011 are available from National Park Centres, Tourist Information Centres and other locations in and around Yorkshire as well as online at www.yorkshiredales.org.uk.
