HAMBLETON and Richmondshire have joined forces in their bid to tackle domestic abuse.
Community safety teams from both districts have formed a joint domestic abuse forum to improve the safety of adults and children affected by abuse.
It brings together members of a host of agencies across the two council areas – including housing associations, primary care trusts and health workers, probation services, magistrates and military organisations.
“Many organisations already provide services for victims and perpetrators of domestic abuse,” said Forum Chair, Sarah Hill from the Independent Domestic Abuse Services (IDAS).
“But through the forum we will be able to work together and speak with one voice, giving us much more power and far more resources to draw on. We will be working to improve help and support for victims/survivors and working with the public we want to reduce the extent and impact of abuse in Hambleton and Richmondshire.”
