Family remembers murdered Jenny

THERE is a poignant reminder today of one family's' search for justice as they remember their daughter, Jenny Nicholl, on what would have been the murdered Richmond woman's 21st birthday.

A major police investigation has been ongoing since Jenny set out from her parents' home in Richmond on 30th June 2005, and detectives and search teams are still seeking both Jenny and her killer.

Detective Superintendent Sue Cross, who heads the investigation, said: "Now is the time for the person who knows where Jenny Nicholl is to come forward and to give a tormented family the consolation of being able to lay their daughter to peaceful and proper rest."

A message from Mrs Ann Nicholl was posted all round Richmond last night.

Headed 'A Mother's Plea', it reads:

DEAR FRIENDS AND FELLOW RESIDENTS OF RICHMOND

When my daughter Jenny left home on 30 June 2005, I never imagined for one moment that I would never see her again. At the time she was a young 19-yr-old girl with her whole life in front of her. I miss her deeply.

Jenny would have been 21 years old today - 6th October 2006.

At this time, our family should be planning a 21st birthday celebration for her. Instead, we are struggling to cope with the knowledge that she is somewhere where we can't take care of her in the way she so richly deserves.

As time has passed I have had to accept that I will never again be able to spend loving time with my daughter and I have had to come to terms with the awful fact that she is dead. Both Brian and I live with the knowledge that we will never see her continuing her journey in life, never marry and never have children of her own. - Our Grandchildren.

I may never find out how or why Jenny was killed but we do desperately need to know where our daughter is, as I cannot bear the thought of her being alone in the cold wet ground in some makeshift grave. I desperately need to find her body and lay it to rest properly so that the family can still spend time with her and care for her.

Someone knows where my daughter Jenny's body is. As a mother I make a heartfelt plea for that person to tell me where she can be found - directly or anonymously.

PLEASE, I JUST NEED MY DAUGHTER'S BODY PUT TO REST WITH RESPECT & DIGNITY.

THANK YOU

ANN NICHOLL

On the family website Ann and Brian Nicholl ask the people of Richmond and beyond: "If you can, whereever you are, light a candle for Jenny on her birthday…"

Det Supt Cross said: "Ann, Brian and the rest of Jenny's family and friends are very much in our thoughts today. Ann and Brian are in a position that no parents would wish to find themselves in and I know from speaking with them that their biggest wish now is to be able lay Jenny to rest with the dignity every human being deserves.

"Someone out there has the power to enable the family to do just that and they should search their conscience and ask themselves why they have not.

"Someone can just pick up the phone or walk into a police station and tell us where Jenny is."

And Det Supt Cross reminded the killer: "We have not given up on this case, nor will we. A team is working relentlessly to bring to justice the person or persons responsible - and we will succeed. You must be feeling the pressure, knowing that we are hunting you down.

"You can put an end to the pain the Nicholl family continues to feel and the pressure you endure - by telling us where Jenny is and why she was killed."

Anyone who can help should call North Yorkshire Police on 01609-789347 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
